Blog 2 - Why did I choose my major?

Hello! Well, I study anthropology, and I'm in my first year, so I'm still thinking about which specialization to choose. In my major, we have 2 years of common coursework and then 3 years of specialization. I believe I'll go into either archaeology or physical anthropology because I've always been interested in material remains of any kind. I really enjoy the idea that we can reconstruct the past and give it meaning (and even a bit of identity) based on these materials. That's what fascinates me about both of these specializations.

Actually, my experience has been quite good. At the beginning, I was quite unsure if I liked it or not because I found it difficult to understand. However, after a month, everything clicked into place, and now I really enjoy all my courses. What's even better is that we have a course that is solely focused on archaeology and physical anthropology (I can't upload pictures due to ethical reasons, but we've seen animal remains, and it was the best class).

As a child, I always dreamed of becoming a chef or a lawyer. I loved cooking and making desserts. As for being a lawyer, it was because I wanted to become a prosecutor (the photo is from a career choice assignment I had to do in school about what I wanted to be when I grew up).

The other options I had were sociology, law, or language and literature, although I never really considered them as options when postulate, because if I didn't get into anthropology this year, I would apply the next year, and so on every year. That's because anthropology (personal perception) is the best career, especially because you can choose any specialization, and they will always be interconnected. I feel that this is one of the best pros of the career and why I chose it. 😊
